Melissa Álvarez Mangual, Ed.D.

Founder & Managing Principal

As founder of Thriven Partners, LLC, Melissa’s extensive lifelong learning informs how she approaches her work as an executive leadership coach and learning and organizational development consultant. Her work is laser-focused on cultivating bravery and strategic action in clients committed to being inclusive and equitable leaders who are emotionally intelligent change agents that shift organizational culture and practices.

A passionate leader, Melissa Álvarez Mangual, Ed.D. has been truly committed to establishing data-informed, successful, sustainable initiatives that effectively take organizational programs to the next level. Melissa is devoted to working with leaders in organizations who are ready and willing to dig deep in order to shift their mindsets, adopt positive habits, and demonstrate practices that will allow them to be more inclusive and equitable leaders, active champions for diversity, equity and inclusion, and agents for change. 

Through coaching, consulting, and mentoring, Melissa has successfully encouraged and equipped dedicated individuals to take their personal and professional growth into their own hands. As a trustworthy and reliable thought and accountability partner, you can count on Melissa to provide you just the right challenge and support as you work to realize your goals. 

Melissa is experienced in reviving failing programs, taking good programs to the next level, and initiating new successful programs in organizations. She uses her skill and precision to employ an interdisciplinary approach that embodies the values of inclusivity and equity. When working side-by-side with Melissa, you can be sure that her time-tested strategies, processes, and approaches will cultivate a breakthrough in thinking and action and advance and expand skill sets that will lead to the revitalization of each client’s unique values and goals. 

Active service and involvement in professional organizations is a priority for Melissa, and something she is incredibly proud of. Serving on the board of directors for the Executive Service Corps, she takes it a step further by also serving as a member of the following professional associations:

Melissa’s varied and diverse experience makes her the perfect coach, leader, and consultant to help you cultivate change, shift mindsets, and inspire high-impact improvement within your workplace. Melissa’s knowledge and skill are derived from her Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership Studies from Northeastern University in Boston, MA; a Master of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from DePaul University, Chicago; and a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Affairs from Florida State University. She is a part of the first global cohort of The PowerMBA, committed to staying up-to-date on the best disruptive innovation practices in business.

Melissa has served as a Fellow for the Intercultural Communication Institute and earned the Intercultural Foundations Certificate. She has earned certificates in Executive and Change Leadership through Cornell University. In her capacity as an Adjunct Faculty for Fielding Graduate University’s Master of Arts in Organization Development and Leadership, Melissa’s teaching focus areas are Leadership and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Melissa also holds various certifications, including:

  • Certified Diversity Executive (CDE)®
  • Executive Certified Diversity Coach and designation as an Associate Diversity Coach (ADC) with Coach Diversity Institute

In her 20+ year career, Melissa has worked in organizations like The Posse Foundation, Inc., The Pennsylvania State University, Habitat for Humanity International, and The Nature Conservancy, adding to her multifarious experience.
